Create and manage jobs
A job records the work for a client. Its schedule, work progress, and connected documents serve different purposes: scheduling a visit does not mean the job is completed, and completing it does not mean the customer has been invoiced.
Create a job
- Choose Job from the create menu, or create one from the relevant client or project.
- Select the client and a complete Location.
- Choose the Primary Contact and review Email to if you will send client emails.
- Add a Job title and instructions that help you recognise and carry out the work.
- Add a schedule now, or leave it empty to create an unscheduled job.
- Review booking emails, reminders, forms, and any repeat settings, then use the creation action.
A client, valid location, and primary contact are required. A valid recipient email is also required when client emails are enabled. You can use a saved client location, and the app may offer its contact and access note; review those suggestions when changing addresses.
The job title and internal notes are for your own use. Do not assume writing an instruction sends it to the customer.
Edit saved details
Open the job and change its details. When the Save action appears, use it to commit the edits. Review any prompt about unsaved changes before navigating away or starting another action. Scheduling, email, form, and timer actions have their own confirmations or save steps.
Changing the location may also affect the appropriate contact and access instructions. Check these together before notifying the client or starting navigation.
Work progress
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Start work | Starts a work session for the job. |
| Pause job | Stops timing while leaving the job open. |
| Complete job | Marks the job completed and ends an active session. |
| Reopen job | Returns a completed job to the status shown in the confirmation, keeping its time logs and connected documents. |
Completion can require you to finish required form fields first. It also stops active On My Way sharing. A job can be marked completed without logged time; the confirmation explains when no time has been recorded.
After completion you can still review the job and use Add Document to continue its project. See Projects within a job.
Cancel work
Use the job's cancellation action and review the confirmation. You can review a cancellation email and send it, or cancel without emailing. Sending requires a primary contact email.
Cancelling the whole job cancels its remaining visits and stops active timing or location sharing. Treat cancellation as final: the cancellation flow warns that it cannot be undone. To remove just one attendance, use the visit's cancellation action instead of cancelling the whole job.
For repeating work, review the recurring schedule separately; changing one job is different from changing the series.
