Notifications

TREVY keeps you informed about activity in your business, from clients accepting quotes and requesting booking changes to payments arriving and new enquiries coming through your website.

Notifications are delivered through three channels:

ChannelWhat it's used for
Notification inboxView business activity, open related records, and follow up on items that need your attention.
Push notificationsReceive alerts on your linked mobile devices, including when the app is closed.
EmailReceive certain notifications, such as new website leads, and important account messages.

Not every notification is delivered through every channel. See Notification types for a complete breakdown.

Notification preferences

TREVY does not currently offer individual switches for different notification categories.

You can enable or disable push delivery for each linked device. Client-facing communications, such as invoice reminders and booking confirmations, are managed separately within their respective features.

Your notification inbox

The notification inbox is where you can review business activity and follow up on notifications that need your attention.

Open the inbox

  1. Open Home.
  2. Tap the notification bell at the top of the screen, next to your profile image.

When you have new notifications or items requiring attention, a red badge appears on the bell.

The badge counts unread notifications and items that still need action. If the total exceeds 99, it displays 99+.

Notifications appear newest first, grouped by time or date. Each notification includes a title, the client or document it relates to, and a short description of what happened.

Read and respond to notifications

Tap a notification to open its related record.

For example:

NotificationWhat happens when you tap it
Quote Accepted or Quote DeclinedOpens the related quote.
Reschedule RequestedOpens the booking with the reschedule request ready to review.
New leadOpens the lead.
Invoice PaidOpens the related invoice.
Payment DisputeOpens the related invoice.
Credit Note AppliedOpens the credit note or the invoice it was applied to.

Some notifications require you to follow up before they are considered resolved.

These notifications display an Action required badge.

Once the underlying action has been handled, the notification's status updates automatically.

For example:

  • Resolved — A reschedule request or website lead has been handled.
  • Quote created — A website lead has been converted into a quote.

Unread vs. action required

Reading a notification and resolving it are different things.

Opening the inbox marks notifications as read shortly after the list loads. However, an item that still needs your attention remains actionable until the underlying request has been handled.

Mark notifications as read

TREVY automatically marks notifications as read shortly after you open the inbox and the list has loaded.

If unread notifications remain, Mark all read appears in the top bar.

Tap it to mark the remaining unread notifications as read.

Marking a notification as read does not resolve an outstanding booking request or website lead.

Remove notifications

You can remove certain notifications after they have been resolved.

  1. Find the notification you want to remove.
  2. Swipe it to the left.
  3. Tap the red delete button.

Only resolved actionable notifications can be deleted this way, such as a reschedule request that has been dealt with or a website lead that has been handled.

Notifications that still require action cannot be deleted. Other notifications remain in the inbox as a record of business activity.

You can also:

  • Pull down to refresh the notification list.
  • Scroll down to load older notifications.

If you sign out of your account, the local inbox list is cleared.

Notifications and multiple accounts

Your inbox only displays activity for the business you are currently signed in to.

If a push notification belongs to a different TREVY account, the app ignores it until you sign in to that account.

How notifications are delivered

Push notifications

Push notifications are sent to devices linked to your TREVY account.

The first time you use the app after signing in, TREVY asks for permission to send notifications.

If you allow notifications, your device registers automatically.

If you decline, TREVY waits approximately 30 days before asking again. You can enable notifications at any time through your device's system settings.

How incoming alerts appear depends on your device:

  • Android: TREVY displays incoming alerts as notifications, including while you are using the app.
  • iOS: The system controls how incoming alerts are presented.

Your device's notification permissions, battery-saving settings, and focus modes can affect delivery.

In-app notifications

The notification inbox updates live while TREVY is open, allowing new activity to appear without you having to refresh manually.

The inbox also refreshes when you open it, so you can catch up on activity that happened while the app was closed.

Email notifications

Some notifications are also delivered by email.

Currently, New lead notifications are emailed to your business when someone submits an enquiry through your TREVY website.

TREVY also sends account and security emails, including:

  • Email verification codes.
  • Password reset messages.
  • Check-in invitations for Founder accounts.

Emails sent to clients

Emails sent to your clients, such as invoice reminders and booking confirmations, are separate from your business notifications.

These communications are managed within the features that send them.

See Payment terms and reminders and Booking communications.

Manage push notifications and devices

You can check whether push notifications are working, send a test notification, and manage the devices linked to your account.

Open notification settings

You can access notification settings in two ways:

  • Open the Home menu and select Notifications, subtitled Check push delivery and linked devices.
  • Open your notification inbox and tap the devices icon.

The Notifications screen contains two sections:

  1. Notification status — Shows whether push notifications are working on your current device.
  2. Linked devices — Lists the devices registered to receive notifications for your account.

Check your notification status

The status card shows the current push notification setup for your device.

StatusWhat it means
Notifications readyYour device is registered and can receive TREVY alerts.
Notifications are turned offNotification permission is disabled for TREVY in your device settings.
Checking notification setupTREVY is checking your device's notification settings.
Updating notification setupTREVY is registering or updating your device.
Notification setup needs attentionSomething prevented registration. The card explains what needs to be fixed.

Depending on the current status, you may see the following actions:

ActionWhat it does
Enable notificationsOpens your device's notification settings so you can allow notifications for TREVY.
Fix setupRetries device registration.
Open system settingsOpens your device's system settings.

Send a test notification

If your status shows Notifications ready, you can send a test notification to confirm that push delivery is working.

  1. Open Notifications from the Home menu.
  2. Make sure your status shows Notifications ready.
  3. Tap Send test notification.

The button changes to Sending…, followed by Waiting for notification….

If the test succeeds, TREVY displays a confirmation in the app.

If the test was sent but your device does not confirm receipt within approximately 20 seconds, TREVY reports that the notification was sent but not received.

You can send one test notification every 30 seconds.

Test notifications

The test checks push delivery to your current device. It does not test delivery to every device linked to your account.

View your linked devices

The linked devices section lists devices that have registered to receive TREVY notifications.

Each device displays:

InformationDescription
PlatformThe device's platform.
StatusWhether the device is Active or Inactive.
App versionThe version of TREVY installed on the device.
Last syncedWhen the device last synced.
Last push receivedWhen the device last received a push notification.
Last errorThe most recent error, if one has occurred.

Your current device is identified with (this device).

If no devices are linked, the list displays No devices linked until notification setup is complete.

Activate or deactivate a device

You can control which linked devices receive push notifications.

  1. Open Notifications from the Home menu.
  2. Find the device in your linked devices list.
  3. Tap its menu.
  4. Select Inactive to stop push delivery, or Active to enable it again.

An inactive device does not receive push notifications.

A device also cannot receive pushes if notification permission has been disabled at the system level, even if it is marked Active in TREVY.

Remove a linked device

To remove a device from your account:

  1. Open Notifications from the Home menu.
  2. Find the device you want to remove.
  3. Tap its menu.
  4. Select Delete.
  5. Confirm the removal.

The device is removed from your linked devices list.

Troubleshooting

Push notifications are not arriving

If you are not receiving push notifications, follow these steps.

1. Check your notification status

Open Notifications from the Home menu and review the status card.

If it shows Notifications are turned off, tap Enable notifications and allow notifications for TREVY in your device settings.

2. Check device registration

If the card shows Notification setup needs attention, tap Fix setup to retry registration.

If the problem continues, tap Open system settings and confirm that TREVY has notification permission.

3. Check your linked device

Find your current device in the linked devices list.

Make sure it is marked Active and does not show an error.

4. Send a test notification

Once your status shows Notifications ready, tap Send test notification.

Check whether your device receives the test and TREVY confirms delivery.

5. Check your signed-in account

Make sure you are signed in to the business you expect.

Notifications belonging to another TREVY account are not shown until you sign in to that account.

6. Check your device settings

Your device may delay or block notifications because of its operating system settings.

Check your notification permissions, battery-saving settings, and focus modes.

Push delivery and your inbox

If push notifications are not arriving, check your notification inbox for recent activity.

The inbox refreshes when you open it and can show notifications you missed while the app was closed.
