Add your first client and job
The final two milestones in TREVY's in-app Get started checklist are Add a client and Create a job.
These steps move you from the separate demo workspace into real business records. You'll create a client, connect a job to their service location and contact, and decide whether to schedule the work or send a booking email.
You don't need to create a quote, invoice, or payment to complete these milestones.
Before you begin
If you're still learning TREVY, explore the demo documents before contacting a real customer. They let you review job details and client-facing emails using demo data.
A safe way to start
Create your first client and job with Booking Email and Reminder Email turned off. Review the saved job before enabling communication.
Adding a client doesn't send an email, and you can create a job without scheduling a visit.
1. Add your first client
From Home, open the Get started card and select Add a client. You can also use the Clients tab or the global + button.
On the New Client screen:
- Enter the client's Name. This is the only required field.
- Add an email address and phone number if you plan to contact them through TREVY.
- Add an address if you know where their first job will take place.
- Add any access notes that belong to the address, such as parking or gate instructions.
- Leave the location contact empty to use the client as the default contact, or add someone else if they should receive job communication for that location.
- Select Save Client.
Email, phone, tax ID, address, and location contact are optional. Adding accurate details now can save you from entering them again when creating a job.
Saving your first non-demo client completes the Add a client milestone.
For more on client records, addresses, and contacts, see Clients.
2. Create your first job
Return to Home → Get started and select Create a job. You can also create a job from the Jobs tab or the global + menu.
On the New Job screen:
- Select the client you just created.
- Select or enter the Location where the work will take place. A valid location is required to save the job.
- Check the Primary Contact. TREVY uses this contact for booking confirmations and update emails.
- Add a Job title and any useful instructions.
- Add a Schedule if the visit date and time are confirmed. Otherwise, leave it empty and arrange the visit later.
- Review the email options before saving.
Decide whether to send client emails
You can save your first job without contacting the client. The email options determine what happens:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Booking Email off | No booking confirmation is sent. |
| Reminder Email off | No automatic visit reminder is sent. |
| Booking Email on | Lets you review a booking confirmation for an upcoming scheduled visit before sending it. |
| Reminder Email on | Lets you review a reminder for an eligible scheduled visit; TREVY sends it closer to the visit. |
When either email option is enabled, TREVY requires a valid Primary Contact email address. The final action becomes Preview Email or Preview Emails, where you can check the recipient and message before anything is sent. You can return to the form to correct the details without sending an email.
With both options off, Book Job saves the job without client communication. If Booking Email is enabled, the confirmation is sent only after you review it and select Confirm & Send. If only a later reminder is enabled, review it and select Book Job; TREVY sends the reminder at the eligible time.
What completes the milestone?
Saving your first non-demo job completes Create a job.
The job doesn't need a schedule, and you don't need to enable either email option.
For more on scheduling, job communication, and managing work after creation, see Jobs.
Review your first job
Open the saved job and check the client, service location, Primary Contact, title, instructions, and schedule together.
Once you're comfortable with the basic flow, you can start using other features as your business needs them. Explore the Clients, Jobs, Quotes, and Invoices guides for more detailed workflows.
