Connected documents
The project documents panel shows records that belong to the same piece of work. You encounter it on job and document screens, and in related-work views such as lead details.
The surrounding screen may look different, but the purpose is the same: see the connected work, open a record, or continue the workflow without losing the project connection.
Read the cards
| Record | What to check |
|---|---|
| Lead | The original enquiry and follow-up status. |
| Quote | The proposed work and its acceptance or other decision status. |
| Job | The work's booking and progress status. |
| Invoice | The billing status and remaining balance where shown. |
| Credit note | The credit record and its status, associated with the relevant invoice. |
Tap a card to open that record. Document numbers and status labels help distinguish multiple records of the same type. The timeline or connections show context, but you should open the underlying record for its complete history and available actions.
Same project, different screens
Opening a related invoice from a job gives you access to that invoice's project context. It does not duplicate the job, invoice, or expenses. Similarly, returning through a quote shows the connected project rather than only documents created on that particular screen.
The current record's actions can differ from those on other cards. Available creation choices depend on the client, saved project context, document state, and whether the records are demo documents.
What a connection does not do
A connection does not automatically synchronise every field. Editing a job's instructions does not rewrite a quote, and changing a saved expense does not automatically change an existing invoice line.
Statuses also remain separate. A completed job can still have an unpaid invoice; an accepted quote can have work that has not started. Check the relevant record instead of treating the project as having one overall completion status.
Missing records
Confirm you are viewing the correct project rather than another piece of work for the same client. Refresh the screen after saving new related work. Demo and real records are kept separate, and the demo workflow limits the types of records that can be added.
Use Continue a workflow to create the next connected record. This panel is not a general tool for merging every existing document belonging to a client.
