Client credit
Client credit is unused value from a client's credit notes. It can reduce the amount they need to pay on another invoice. Applying credit is different from recording a new payment.
Apply available credit
- Select the client while preparing the invoice.
- Add the invoice items and check the final total.
- In the totals area below payment received, tap Apply Client Credit when available.
- Choose the maximum available amount or enter a smaller amount.
- Check Client Credit Applied and the balance still due before issuing.
Tap Client Credit Applied again to change or remove the selection while preparing the invoice. Credit comes from eligible open credit notes for the selected client; it is not a free-entry discount.
How much can be used?
The amount is limited by available eligible credit and the invoice balance. If money has already been received, that payment is applied first. Credit covers only the amount left after it, and unused credit remains available on the client's account.
For example, a 500 invoice with 100 already paid has 400 left to cover. If the client has 600 of eligible credit, up to 400 can be applied here and 200 remains available.
If you lower the invoice total, change the received payment, or change the client, review the credit selection again. TREVY does not silently fix every conflicting amount; resolve the message before issuing. Saving a draft is not the same as completing the final credit application.
Where credit comes from
A credit note first reduces any outstanding balance on its original invoice. Value left after that can remain as client credit or be refunded. Credit already used or refunded is no longer available to apply again.
If no credit is offered, check that the correct client is selected, an eligible credit note still has an unused balance, and the new invoice has an amount left to pay. Review the credit note's application and refund history rather than relying on its original face value.
